MUMMY 101 - Your Breastfeeding Journey

"MUMMY 101 : Your Breastfeeding Journey" is for Mummies with a desire to breastfeed successfully. 

Breastfeeding your baby should be an enjoyable, bonding experience for both of you. However it can be a maze of health, societal and emotional factors that can make it a significantly stressful experience for new mums. This workshop is about offering you the support necessary to get you off to a good start and to help you enjoy your journey without stress, anxiety and confusion. The ideal time to complete this workshop is during pregnancy.

At this workshop you will learn about: 

• The benefits and risks of breastfeeding. 
• How breastfeeding 'works'.
• Components of breastmilk and its immune properties.
• The importance of the initial few hours after birth
• Variations of positions to breastfeed. 
  Infant feeding reflexes. Laid back breastfeeding.
• What is a correct latch. Hand expressing.
• How to know if your supply is right for your baby.
• Strategies to minimise breastfeeding complications.

'Your Breastfeeding Journey' will be presented by the wonderful Emma Maher from Empowered Lactation. Emma is an IBCLC with a passionate desire to support women in their breastfeeding journey. With a background in nursing, midwifery and child and family health nursing, she is devoted to helping women and their partners during this often fragile transitional time of welcoming a baby to their family. 

PLEASE NOTE:

QUESTIONNAIRE: Emma will be emailing each Mummy an important questionnaire before the workshop begins. Please fill in the questions and send back to Emma as soon as possible. Your answers will guide Emma on her Q&A to make sure ALL your concerns, issues and questions are discussed in depth. Please check your junk emails just incase.

BABIES, TODDLERS & PARTNERS: Purchasing a seat for partners is highly encouraged and recommended so that they can partake, learn and support you as well. Babies and infants are welcome, however toddlers may have a hard time hanging around the whole two hours and so are discouraged from coming. We do not want you, the most important person involved, to miss out while chasing your Bub around. We are happy to accommodate prams if needed.

SEATING: Guest list will be marked at the front entrance. Guests will be able to take a seat where they choose, as no seating plan will be available. As you will be in an intimate shared space, it is hoped that you meet, connect and bond with other mums-to-be. We are all on this amazing journey together and we all need new mum friends to help, support and guide us

PARKING: On street parking available. 

TERMS & CONDITIONS: To secure your seat, full pre-payment is required at the time of booking. Tickets are non-refundable however easily transferrable by yourself through the booking page.

COVID: All precautions have been taken to make sure social distancing and hygiene are maintained. Face masks and antiseptic hand gel are allocated at all entrances for your convenience.
